Enhance sharpens a photo and doubles its width and height. It sharpens existing detail, it does not invent new detail. The process runs on your device, no upload needed.
Enhance processes one photo per run, up to 20MB, the same limit as Remove Background and Crop. The AI model downloads once on first use, under 1MB, and stays cached after that, so later runs start instantly.

How to use

What Enhance actually does
Enhance runs an AI model called ESRGAN, under 1MB, to sharpen a photo and double its size. It sharpens detail that already exists in the pixels you give it. It does not reconstruct, invent, restore or recover detail that was never captured. A true AI reconstruction mode is planned for the future, but it has not shipped yet.
If your device cannot run the AI model, Enhance falls back to a classic 2x upscale with sharpening, and tells you so directly: "This device could not run the AI model, so a classic 2x upscale with sharpening was used instead." Either path gives you a sharper, larger image, not a more detailed one.
Where the 2x comes from, and its limits
Every result doubles the width and height of the source. The source is capped at 2048px before upscaling, and the output is capped at 4096px on the longest side; a photo that is already 4096px or larger is refused outright. Output always saves as JPG, which means any transparent area in the source becomes solid white. The model, the upscale and the download all run on your device, nothing is sent to a server.
Best photos to run through Enhance
Enhance helps most on small or thumbnail photos that need to look larger, images that have gone soft from repeated compression, and screenshots where text and interface edges benefit from sharper contrast. A photo that is already sharp and high resolution will not gain much, since there is little softness left to sharpen.

Does Enhance add detail that was not in the original photo?
